Is Joy, sorrow unmasked?

Kahlil Gibran wrote,“Your joy is your sorrow unmasked….and….

the deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”

I too believe that if you haven’t been touched and learned about sadness,

you may never fully appreciate happiness.

Our family has met much tragedy these past couple of years

in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

A Franciscan Priest and friend of our family at one of our funeral's

remarked, "He has been laid to rest, and here where we have sorrow,

we are also on hallowed ground."

So maybe some days there is no song in our hearts.

Some days it is hard to even make it past putting our feet on the ground.

At that moment we need to decide to live in a "What is" kind of world..

rather than the "What if,"

and learn to live in the "What is" world.

On those very days we need to make ourselves sing.

Make it a unmasked joyous día!
