Care to Listen?

I wrote about coping yesterday... this morning I write about caring.

What is caring?

Care  [kair] care  noun.

1.  a state of mind in which one is troubled; worry, anxiety, or concern.

2.  a cause or object of worry, anxiety, concern, etc.

3.  temporary keeping, as for the benefit of or until claimed by the owner.

We tend to say CARE or that we are caring.

We CARE for our spouses, partners, employees, our children,

lately all the children with the Penn State crisis and some of us even

CARE about the ongoing war in Afghanistan or the one on drugs in Mexico.

We CARE about Two and a Half Men (the old one?), even the Dave Lettermen Show

(I was an audience member a few years back but that's a blog for another day).

We even CARE for our loved ones when called to.

But one can't CARE without truly LISTENING.

Listening communicates value,

nothing you can say says more than,

I CARE about you,

who you are,

and what you CARE about."

How are your listening skills?

Take time to LISTEN today... show your spouse, your partner, your kids,

your manager, your employees, or a friend that you CARE.

Make it a CARING kind of dia.
